Report from A.Jones of large thrush passage of mainly Fieldfare though Clowbridge this morning. c2000 between 09:40 and 10:30 hrs all heading down the Limy valley. See reports for E.Lancs area this a.m.
Cribden Clough 14:40 hrs approx. 2 Meadow Pipit loafing in grass. min. 11 Jackdaw c20 tit flock inc. c4 Long Tailed. c200 mixed Redwing & Fieldfare all headed W. disturbed by some idiot letting off fireworks, in broad daylight. You can imagine the comments that passed between us for yourself! 1m Ring Ouzel in with redwings 5 Mistle Thrush c20 mixed finches all green & chaff. Many Wood Pigeons feeding on holly berries probably c25 - 30.
2 Dippers chasing on river at Leabrook, looks as though there is an interloper on the residents territory. + 1 Grey Wagtail.
Did anybody see the influx counted at one point on tuesday on the east coast. It must have been fantastic as over 24.000 fieldfares, redwings and blackbirds were counted which lasted from dawn till dusk. Truly one of the most evocative of Autumn time
I counted 200 Fieldfares at 07:10 this morning flying North then turning West over Cowm.
My wife had 50 Redwing flying over Cowm at 07:20
In Waterfoot at 07:30I had 25ish Redwing flying north over Newchurch.
