Wildfowl Count - Grane Sun 14th June

I am away next weekend so won't be able to do the Wildfowl Count.  Would anyone visiting Grane on the Saturday or Sunday please post any sightings on the forum.

Holden Wood
13 Canada Geese + 3 Goslings
1 Black headed Gull
10 Lapwings on meadow by road + 2 Juvs (some bird seem to be sitting) 5 birds on opposite side
1 Oystercatcher which moved to Ogden
5 male Reed Buntings singing 1 female carrying food
1 Sedge Warbler singing

Ogden
2 Black headed Gulls
1 Sparrowhawk flew over mobbed by Swallows
Good numbers of Meadow Pipits

Calf Hey
6 Canada Geese
2 Mallards
1 male Stonechat singing
1 Redpoll flew over
1 Great spotted Woodpecker calling

Hi Ian

John and I weere up at Grane today and can add the following

great crested grebe - 1 on Ogden
Canada goose - there were 18 adults at Holden Wood with 4 goslings as well as the 6 on Calf Hey.
heron - 1 at Holden Wood
mallard - 3 at Holden Wood
lapwings - at least 20 adults either side of the res and at least 6 juvs in the field by the road
oystercatcher - we had 1 at Holden Wood and 1 at Ogden
sparrowhawk - 1 female seen twice at Calf Hey
stock dove - 2 flew over Holden Wood from the direction of Jamestones Quarry
pied wagtail - 2 at Holden Wood
grey wagtail - 2 at Ogden
blackcap - 1 at Calf Hey

away from the reservoirs a buzzard flew over Deep Clough towards Thirteen Stone Hill
