I'm back from foreign parts where I found my Moussier's Redstart without looking too hard, plus other stuff........ most of it Roman.
Back to a snowfree garden with Dunnock singing and some of the marauding hordes of Collard Doves picking up and trying out bits of suitable nesting material.
While I was away my neighbour found, (whilst topping up my feeders) a perfectly formed, but frozen solid Goldfinch. She even photographed it for me!! In case I recognised it I suppose. lol.
Wc back! You could have brought some sunshine with you. I really need some to cheer me up, Moussier's Redstarts are quite easy to see in Sous-Massa National Park in Morrcoo. In fact I find that Redstarts are one of the easiest birds to see in some countries.
What was Tunisia like as a birdwatchig destination? I need a holiday ASAP and wat to book one in middle of Feb. I have no particular countries i mind but wherever I get the best deal. Although factors like habitat, natural scenery, wildlife will play an important role and will in fact over-ride price. My ideal place to visit would be Egypt.
Look at Naturetrek for birding places in Tunisia. Best time for birds would be a little later than Feb, more birds during spring migration. I went with people interested in history so it wasn't a birding holiday as such, but still saw a few hanging around archeological sites. Best of luck with you holiday plans.
