A friend today brought a bird to work for me to have a look at. His cat had brought it in this morning and he did not know what it was. He had it in his van in a box. In my mind I thought it would be a Starling of sorts but was amazed to see a magical and beautiful. Water Rail!
Of all the things a Cat would catch.....It was around the Todd Carr Road area so i presume it would have been on the River or even a new in continental migrant that just happened to crash land in Waterfoot.
Anyway I recommended he take it to the 3 Owls sanctuary which he did and they charged him a fiver for the privilege!.
It's leg resembled a break but they said it was only tissue damage, gave him a reference number so he can check on it's progress. I shall post some (poor)pics I got on my mobile on my website.

Hi Jim Yes it seemed lively enough so let's hope it will recover. If time allows I hope to visit the patient on Sunday to ask where it will be released (if at all). Wonder if it would benefit from release near to where it was taken?
