I'm not sure whether Ian Brady mentioned this at Monday's meeting, but Eric sadly died last Tuesday 10th February at the age of 95. Both he and his wife, Margaret, had been suffering from dementia for several years but Eric died of a heart attack.
Eric was a big influence on birding in Rossendale and was one of the founder members of ROC in 1978. He was instrumental in developing the interest in birds of present and past members of ROC by running a Bird-watching Society at BRGS for many years. He also compiled the ROC Bird Report in the early years and published Rossendale Birds in the late 1980s. Many of us owe Eric a debt of gratitude for his friendship and encouragement over many years.
Eric's funeral will be on Thursday 26th February at 11am at St Peter's RC Church in Newchurch, Rossendale, then at Burnley Crematorium.

Sad news.
Many fond memories of Eric during the early years of creating this club for both my dad and myself. A true gentleman.
Condolences to his family. RIP.

Sorry to hear this news. Thanks for letting people know Jim. Please send our thoughts to the family.
What a legacy to leave behind. Quite an achievement that most don't come close to.
