Thought this might be interesting to some, a notification from Dawn Balmer (BTO), about Fieldfares being seen in Shropshire AT THIS TIME OF THE YEAR!!!
here is copy of letter:
Hi all
Long time no contact.
Yesterday I received the following email about some Fieldfares seen in Shropshire and wondered if you guys had seen any yet this autumn (?). I've seen them in August in the past but mid-July is pretty early.
"A rookery contact of mine, one Pam Twitchell of Whitton Court, Hope Bagot (at SO579763), phoned this evening to report counts at three rookeries this year and added fieldfares.
She was outside the house, today, talking to someone (a part time gamekeeper) and fieldfares started to fly over - they both picked up on the calls - both know their birds (PW used to work for the RSPB) and it is a good record. Over perhaps half a minute about 50 in total went over in small groups or 2-3 up to 5-6 - they were coming from the direction of Tittersone Clee and heading off about westward."
