Now the drier and warmer weather is upon us I have reduced the food supply at the feeding station as the birds begin to spread out through the woodland and start to breed And intend to stop feeding by the end of March. During the mild spell in late February the numbers of most species dropped off and food consumed was well down for that time of year, now we have moved into a wet cool period, over the last couple of days activity has increased..... For anybody who has an interest in Jackdaws there are now 1000+ roosting at Reedsholme from 17:30 hrs onwards. Most birds are coming in from the north. Further to this, are Jackdaws still heading south through Ewood Bridge during the late afternoon to roost south of the valley? Bob.

Male at Holmes Terrace Lodge this morning. Somewhat dodgy, no doubt, but at least free flying. Only one coot seen here today. Also round and about two pairs goosander on the river but no sign of the greylags today. Andy

Damp, cool and misty, 6 degrees. Single Little Egret feeding on the Irwell just upstream of Stubbins road bridge at 0830 hours this morning, it was then disturbed by people on the bridge and flew upstream towards Alderbottom. Regards Brian.
